Trust
Five simple letters. One huge result.
In my job as a men’s pastor, I get to talk to a lot of guys. Some of the meetings are great, with men just wanting to find a firm path of discipleship with Christ. Others are brutally difficult with men pouring out their souls regarding some incredibly hard situation.
And in many, if not all cases, the topics boil down to one thing.
Trust
There is a major distinctive between the men in the above two groups. In the first group, the majority of the men are not in a spiritual valley and they want an even deeper relationship with Christ.
They are willing to trust him – even if it means descending into some valley in order to gain perspective.
In the second group, the majority of the men are in some spiritual hole; struggling with who God is and why he placed them there. And God is calling them to trust him while they’re at the bottom.
But trust can be hard. Sometimes God calls us to do stuff that makes zero sense. Like picking up your family and moving to Africa to minister to a people group you have never seen before. Like making a moral stand at work – while your job (and your mortgage) hangs in the balance. Like living below your means and giving your excess to ministry. Or sometimes we just somehow end up in a hole that feels like it has no bottom.
Either way, God is calling us all to trust – and he will not disappoint.
Take a look at God’s point of view:
I have not spoken in secret…I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right…By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked. (Isaiah 45: 19, 23)
God keeps his promises, trust me.
