A warm fall Saturday led my son and I to Chapel Hill, NC home of the Tar heels. No, we weren’t checking out a football game, we were invited to check out a collegiate band known to many Contemporary Christian Music fans as Shane and Shane. I was fortunate enough to be able to sit down with the duo to find out what makes Shane and Shane such a sought after band.

Shane, you guys have a new album that has just come out, what is the name of the album?

The name of the new album is entitled Pages. Shane Everett commented that a lot of songs come from my journal, so we thought it through a little further and came up with Pages as the title to the album.

It looks as though there are different styles, genres if you will all on the same album, what is the reasoning behind this?

When journaling, one day can be up and another you may be struggling in the valley. There is no particular reason other than that is what we felt led to do.

With this Pages tour, we have found out more about you guys than ever before. Is this tour any different than what you’ve been doing?

Actually, we have been traveling together for a decade and nothing major has changed. We didn’t want anything to change, other than media outlets and promotional resources. There have been some changes within the group. We do have a band that tours with us and of course our families.

For some CCM fans that may not know, the other Shane is engaged to be married.

That is right, I am engaged to Bethany Dillon who does some shows on the tour with us when Bebo Norman is unavailable.

Bethany has had a successful ministry over the past few year as well.

Yes, Bethany’s 2004 debut stood out, because at only 14, she was a serious writer and artist creating her own material, mature beyond her years, with an authenticity of expression and an ability to own the emotion in her music. Audiences connected with her first record almost immediately, and the results included several hit singles, multiple Dove nods, critical acclaim, and an exponentially increasing grassroots fan base that propelled her career forward in great leaps.

Another outlet that God has opened for Bethany is for a song that she has written. Tell us about Beautiful.

Bethany performs her song 'Beautiful' for Angela Thomas's Do You Think I'm Beautiful? DVD Bible study. Thousands of women all over the world have been touched by Angela Thomas's powerful message. Now you can share it with your small group or bible study through the brand new DVD curriculum.

Back to Shane and Shane, where did you guys meet?We met playing music in college and we both live in Texas.

Is your focus for your music radio airplay and charting success?

No, our prayer is that our music changes lives and draws people closer to Jesus. Of course, having our music on the radio waves helps people associate us with our music.

Shane Everett, you were on 700 Club with Pat Robertson recently, tell me about that experience.

They did a story on my testimony and how God changed my life for the better. From playing music in bars in Texas to playing in churches around the country spreading the good news of Jesus ever where that we go.

With a busy tour schedule, how did you fit the interview in?

They actually came to our studio and we did it at home.

So you guys actually have a studio in Texas?

Yes, Pages was the first project that we actually got to record in Spaceway Studios. It was nice to put in several hours and then go home to the normal routine.

As the lyrics to a song on the Pages album reveals, it is the desire for Shane and Shane to beg for God to move in a miraculous and mysterious way.
