1. Is Masturbation Wrong?
Shhhh...
Tackling the subject of sex in the church is, it goes without saying, taboo. Very few preachers and teachers of the Word are anxious to give a lesson on this most controversial issue and there is clearly a reason for this. For one, our culture accepts many principles that run counter to the Biblical precepts that define and prescribe a healthy sexual life so that any attempt to offer a scriptural based analysis of the subject promises to be an up hill battle. And clearly there is the aspect of shame and embarrassment associated with the very language necessary to describe in detail some of the do's and don't’s we Christians must know. The process of bringing to light those physical areas of our body that are, for good reason, covered most of the time just for the sake of a sermon is generally seen as not being worth the effort to express. It is just easier to give the congregation some broad guidelines that can be appropriated behind closed doors. Read Article
2. To Drink or Not To Drink?
I am a firm believer in the maxim that to get the right answer you need the right question. So what is the right question? Let’s think about that for a little bit, shall we? Are we compromising our faith or our witness by doing a particular act? To get to the heart of the matter I think it is necessary to discuss spiritual maturity.
If we are to call ourselves Christian men we must believe that the Bible is truly the divinely inspired work of God as written by his messengers. It is our duty to know the word, all of it, not just the parts that we are taught in Sunday school or what we hear the preacher say in his sermon. If we are to grow spiritually, we must grow in the word. How many people do you know that go around like parrots repeating what they have heard in snippets of disembodied wisdom that sound less like what God intended and more like the parochial sound bite of the week? They’ve gotten no deeper than the words themselves; out of context and probably out of sync with the situation into which they have just interjected them.
I’ve experienced this so many times that I was forced to become a more patient man, to grow in my own spiritual maturity. Well, it was that or start cracking them over the head with a Zondervan. I took the high road, although I eyeballed the low-road more than once, I’ll admit it. That said I think we need to observe spiritual maturity by going to the source, and what better place to go than, the gospel.

3.Question :: Are tatoos sinful?
Before I tackle this subject, I think it is important to be up front about my own situation. I, myself, have several tattoos, all of which were received after I was a Christian. I have often heard of individuals that came to Christ whose arms were sleeved with tattoos and when questioned about it, they would say something like, “they’re just battle scars. I am not sure if they meant that the tattoos they had were anti-Christian, or at least of a vulgar nature unbefitting of a Christian, or that they felt tattoos in and of themselves are wrong to have. Regardless, it is an issue that many Christians struggle with. This is evidenced by my own experiences as a Christian who is tattooed and pierced. Yes, I too have body piercings; my lip, eyebrow and nose. With this in mind, I will try to be as objective as possible, in spite of my own personal decisions.
