1. Interview with SonicfloodThe more things change, the more they stay the same. From the debut of Sonicflood till today, some of the faces have changed, but the message and the drive of this band continues to be winning souls for Christ. From touring the world to charity work and recording new music, Sonicflood continues to open the door for worship to people each and every day. A band that has experienced so much success could easily hang it up, lavishing in previous accomplishments, but the members of Sonicflood find new inspiration, a new joy, and a new passion each step of the way.
The Band
Sonicflood is a band that works as a cohesive unit, realizing that, to fulfill the Lord’s plan for the band, they have to work together. Rick Heil, Trey Hill, Jordan Jameson, Grant Norsworthy, and Chris Kimmerer all come from different backgrounds but have the same passion…changing the face of worship in today’s culture. Rick is a walking miracle, as the Lord healed him of Chron’s disease. Trey has overcome anxiety problems and nervousness to stand in front of thousands of fans to lead worship. As I spoke with the band on our way to perform a crusade in the Bahamas, you could see their personalities shine through.

2. Interview with Alex Kendrick
A couple of years ago, I was on vacation in Jekyll Island, GA, and I watched a three hour special on the “100 Greatest Movie Lines of all-time. I had waited all day for it to come on and watched intently, remembering the great scenes of each movie that had made the list. It was at this point that I realized that the movie industry had a greater impact on our culture than I thought it did before that point. It has ballooned even more since that time, mostly becoming more grotesque, sinful, and sexually provocative by the year. A group of people, under the guidance of God, have produced a movie that is capturing the souls of audiences everywhere.
Alex Kendrick and his brother Stephen are ministers in Georgia. After reading a story about the influence of movies on today’s generation, they asked God to use them to turn the tide of influence to a more positive one for society. The results were far beyond their expectations, with the Lord proving that His Word is true. I recently caught up with Alex to talk about their latest film, Facing the Giants.
3. Interview with Jim Grobe
One of the reasons that we love sports is because there is always the chance that the underdog can overtake the favorite. We watch to see which team that is said to have no shot will prevail over the more powerful or more storied team, giving us the hope that we too can overcome incredible odds in our lives. When these upsets happen, they offer a sense of hope to all of us that we will have a day that we will shine as well.
Last season, the Wake Forest Demon Deacon football team proved that they too could overcome the odds and become champions. In the preseason, they were picked to finish last in their division with the experts believing that they didn’t have what it took to excel in the ACC. They believed in themselves and overcame injuries, history, and skeptics to win the ACC Football Championship and play in the Orange Bowl. A school long known for its’ basketball and golf, with such famous alumni as Arnold Palmer and Tim Duncan, stood at the pinnacle of the college football world.
I recently met with their head coach, Jim Grobe, to talk about his faith in God, football, and a season that gave us all a reason to believe that we can overcome any obstacles that we may face in life.
