What it is ::

YouthWorks!, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, was created in 1994 by a youth minister in Minneapolis, MN. Their purpose "is to provide life-changing, Christ-centered youth mission opportunities. This is our reason for being. We create extraordinarily fun and significant mission adventures, targeted to the needs and capabilities of youth, ages 12-19. By crossing borders of race and culture, and by placing students outside their comfort zones, we find something wonderful happens: God gets their attention!" This steadfast mission, which is the focus of the President on down to volunteers, is the reason they have seen incredible growth. With a Christ-centered board guiding a skilled staff, YouthWorks is blossoming. The first summer, 35 churches brought approximately 400 participants to two sites. In 2002, over 1600 churches and youth ministries brought over 27,000 participants to 58 different mission sites. In the summer of 2005, we had almost 38,000 participants in over 82 different communities.

In sitting down with their President Paul Bertelson recently, it is no wonder this organization is spreading like wildfire. The passion he has for the youth, for their hearts and for the people they are assisting is so evident. God is doing something special in todays youth, and organizations such as Youthworks! are playing a huge role by providing a vehicle for them to spread the love of Jesus. Check out their website...Youthworks.com and look up the various ways you can get involved!

How to Get Involved::
There are many different ways you can be involved in the ministry of YouthWorks. They have summer staff positions, twelve-month GreaterWorks internships, Minneapolis internships, employment opportunites and volunteer opportunities. Another way to help, is to get your church involved. Let your youth pastor know about the opportunities and help set up a trip for your youth.
