Adam Brassfield and the Delta Force
by Michael Cline
On the heels of such titles as Why Men Hate Going to Church by David Murrow comes a ministry opportunity that has the potential to transform lives through a power that has seldom been seen in the Churchâ€"brute strength! Adam Brassfield and The Delta Force are big guysâ€"Adam came bench press over 500 lbs., leg press over 2,000 lbs., and can “break more bricks with his head than any man aliveâ€?â€"but they have an even bigger mission: To build the Kingdom of God one bicep curl at a time. And they do it by faith. You want the definition of a “faith-based organization?â€? How does traveling the country to the next rally with the only money for transportation being that which you made at the last stop sound? There are no gimmicks here; just men who are real about their calling, who want to be real with people about their God.
It’s hard to find something not to love about these men. They are driven, passionate, genuine, and well…strong…very strong. While demolishing 18 layers of bricks with their forearms, snapping the “unbreakable Louisville Sluggers with their legs, and turning steel rods into caricatures of their former selves, these guys turn heads. But more amazing; they turn hearts. Their website proclaims that in a typical rally done by The Delta Force, “typically 3/4 of the commitments made are first time decisions for Christ. These guys do not bench press to get the ladies. They bench press to bring in a crowd that will hear the gospel story through their actions and words. And while breaking 2 X 4’s is not exactly like breaking bread together, God’s spirit moves in the places they reach and people come to know the true power behind any feat of strength.
When the dust settles on stage, and the last heavy-duty hot water bottle has been blown up like a balloon, an authentic testimony is given, inviting anyone to give their life to Christ or to seriously consider the Lordship of Jesus one more time. Many of the people who respond are children (Delta Force visits the area schools during the day), but 1/3 are adults. The altars are usually loaded with people who are serious about making Jesus Lord and Savior of their lives. But the ministry does not stop there. Time is taken to get the names and contact information of all who have made a decision that night. They are asked to bring their friends back the next night to do it all over againâ€"except bigger, better, with more chaos, and hopefully more decisions for Christ.
A few more reasons to get in contact with this ministry:
Fire…lots of fire.
They are the only “strength ministry still going strong (pun intended) in the U.S. with a lifetime guarantee of no steroid use.
Steel rods being bent by a man’s grip…of his teeth, that is.
Phone books being ripped by bare hands.
Frying pans being folded like a burrito.
Cleaning, jerking, and military pressing telephone polls.
Was it mentioned that fire is always included in as many stunts as possible?
Do you want to bring Adam Brassfield and The Delta Force to your church? Here’s a quick sketch on how to make it happen:
(1) Assuming your church has given the thumbs up, contact The Delta Force via their website at www.thedeltaforce.org , their phone line 1-870-740-2338, or their email address at info@thedeltaforce.org.
(2) Be prepared to supply all the material needed for their stunts and a way into the local school system (the more you do ahead of the time, the better). You will also need to get several people in place to help set up each event and clear the stage of debris.
(3) Canvass neighborhoods about a week and a half before the event with flyers and chat with anyone and everyone about the upcoming event.
(4) Take a love offering at every event. This is their only way of making money. They are one of the only ministries like this that does not have up-front fees (meaning, they will never say “We will only come if you can promise X amount of funds).
(5) Have some good home cooking on hand. Guys like this do not eat like the average Joe. Five meals a day at least need to be on hand. You wouldn’t want them to break their femur with a Louisville Slugger would you?
(6) Get friendly with the local chiropractor and nurse practitioner and place them conveniently on speed dial.
Taken straight from their website: “Whether your attendance is 120 or 12,000 we want to serve your community, unite and grow your church to the Glory of God…Let us help make your community ‘Christ Conscious.’ What a beautiful phrase “Christ Conscious. And what kind of group can have such a mission, but men who truly take Paul’s words to “beat their bodies (I Corinthians 9:27) a little too seriously. Maybe it’s time we all get more serious about reaching lost souls with innovative ministry opportunities like The Delta Force.
