What is my role as a man? What is a real man? Where are the real men? If you're a man reading this, you've undoubtedly asked yourself these questions but may not have had much prospect of answering them.
I admit that my motive for writing this article is to stir up the “men of God and call them back to God’s Word, God’s methods, His message, and to be in the rightful place in his home and his community. If ever there was a time when we needed the true men of God to stand up and be counted, now is the time.
In today's society, Men have been fooled into believing many false things about what it means to be a man. Real men are defined as being macho, athletes, entertainers, and action-hero types. However, God's view of a real man is quite different as stated in Ephesians 5:23.

The Godly view of a real man is rooted in Christ, the ultimate model of human perfection. Each person, created in the image and likeness of God, is bestowed with dignity, freedom, intellect and will. St. John 15:5 says "I am the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing."

Through an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ, a real man will bear fruits such as love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control as mention in Galatians 5:22-23. This means that a real man will surrender his life, his will, and his plans to the loving care of the Lord. Whether single or married, the Lord must takes first priority in his life, family next, and his career and aspirations follow, for a real man knows that with his priorities in order, God will meet all his needs. As in St. Matthew 6:33 Jesus plainly says, “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
God has called men to be leaders in their homes, church, and communities, to be examples to their children, but why then have so many men relinquished this authority to their wives or mate? Some live a life of watching TV, or living at their job, or hanging with the fellows, or simply not engaging with their family. It's not fair to the wife/mate or the children. This is not the way God intended it. A real man must devote himself to his wife/mate and family faithfully and fully.

I Corinthians 11:3, says “that the head of every man is Christ. Which means a real man must be a good example to their families. If he sets a distorted example or refuses to lead within the family unit, this action, like a disease, spreads to all the family members. If you have bad habits, if you curse, if you are lazy (sorry), your family will follow that example of leadership whether you want them to or not. The children of alcoholics are often alcoholics themselves. The children of child abuse will usually abuse their own children. The real man must instruct his children in the ways of the Lord. He must teach his children without partiality, knowing that the seed he plants will one day flower in the life of the child as they grow older. Proverbs 22:6, says “Trained up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

A real man must admit his need for a Savior and puts God first in his life. A real man is committed to honoring Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, and obedience to God's word in the power of the Holy Spirit, and until the men of God step up and take back their responsibilities and God given roles, then we will never see society or our families or our relationships be as good as they can be, and have the potential to be the best it can be.
In closing, I seek to honor those men who have embraced the challenge to be good husbands, fathers, and Real Men of God.

It is true we must put God first. But most men have put God and their own education on the back burner. We must regain both are all will be lost.

Chris,
What a blessing. It is evident that this article was written by a man of God. My prayer is that men who read this and are not following the words of God will truly search themselves and make a change for the New Year.

Continue to let God use you.
