A vacation that leaves you lifted up and changes who you are is more than a vacation and even more than just a mission trip; it is a movement of God. Sons of Salvation ministry and PraiseFest ministries teamed up to put on the first annual Cruise for a Cause. Thousands of people saw God face-to-face as a result from the mission opportunity they provided. Many souls were won for Christ and those who already were part of the family of God grew closer to the Maker during the week. Through the missions work, the seminars, the concerts, and the fellowship, all those who took part came to the throne of God.
They named it Cruise For A Cause, a five-day cruise to the Bahamas to help with a crusade taking place on Grand Bahama Island. During the cruise portion of the trip, guest could attend seminars, tailored to students, singles, and adults, that we led by powerful men of God, such as Josh McDowell and Steve Borden (professional wrestling superstar Sting). Each night, there were concerts featuring Sonicflood, Kutless, Tait, NewSong, Todd Agnew, and other Christian musicians. Each led a time of worship that focused the audience on the task at hand, leading the lost to Christ.
Once we arrived on the island, each guest who signed up to help boarded a bus to travel to their assigned ministry area. Some chose to do school evangelism while others chose to do the street evangelism assignments. Our group chose to be part of the street evangelism ministry and I was appointed team leader. My group was given the assignment of canvassing the lower income areas of Grand Island. We walked from house to house, inviting residents to the crusade, passing out flyers, and telling them about Jesus. Each Bahamian met us with a smile and a few even sang songs for us. We talked about where we were from and why we were there, all while being received with an incredible spirit of hospitality.
crusade was breathtaking. Between 4,000- 5,000 Bahamians attended the crusade, where volunteers stood at the gate passing out toys to the children who entered. Kutless, Manwell, Sonicflood, and all the bands performed there at the Sports Complex and the speakers gave testimonies and a powerful message. 1,600 commitments were made and 5 members of our ship prayed for salvation as well.
The next Cruise For A Cause is in the planning stages right now. The dates have not been finalized, but you can keep an eye on the Sons of Salvation web site to see when they announce the dates for the 2007 cruise. All signs are pointing to a date similar to this year’s, which was May 29th â€" June 2nd.
The Lord asked a question, “Who shall I send? Will you answer “Here am I, send me, like Isaiah did. If so, start planning now to be on board for Cruise For A Cause 2007. You will get the opportunity to spread the Word to those in need and get the chance to grow spiritually on the cruise. It’s an opportunity for you to grow closer to Christ while reflecting the love of Christ. This cruise is no ordinary cruise as it will change your life, just like it changed me.
