What their about:
Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.
Founded by Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean war orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.
Today, Compassion helps more than 700,000 children in more than 20 countries
Since 1952, the core of Compassion International's ministry has been to introduce children to Jesus Christ â€" to provide them with hope. We believe that when Jesus said "Let the children come to me …" He knew that all we have to do is make a way. Children will naturally come to Jesus, if we don't hinder them.
The Bible is filled with stories about how God uses children; from a young boy who slew a giant named Goliath to a young man who shared his fish and bread with 5,000 hungry people. Children are a vital part of God's kingdom.
Many people believe children are our future. Compassion believes in the worth of children today. Today is the time to tell children about Jesus and start shaping their lives.

Need:
Just how bad is the world's hunger problem? Consider the following:
• Almost 6.5 million children under five die every year from hunger-related diseases. In fact, hunger-related illnesses kill 12 children every minute of every day.
• At roughly 815 million, the world's undernourished people outnumber the populations of each continent except Asia.
Our neighbors really do need our help. One billion people live on $1 a day; 2.8 billion people live on less than $2 a day. In sub-Saharan Africa, people are scraping by on just 65 cents a day.
