Sometimes, I wonder if it was good that I have put so much emphasis on sexual purity.
Maybe I have focused on it too much. There are so many other important topics for us to learn in following Jesus and hearing from him. As I thought more this subject a verse came to my mind.

“God wants you to be holy, so you should keep clear of all sexual sin. Then each of you will control your body and live in holiness and honor -- not in lustful passion as the pagans do, in their ignorance of God and his ways.
… God has called us to be holy, not to live impure lives.
Anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human rules but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.” 1Thessalonians 4:3-5,7-8 NLT

So now I am thinking that this is the right track. We should constantly emphasize purity. In Peter’s second letter he is talking about false teachers and this is one of the things he says about them. “He (God) is especially hard on those who follow their own evil, lustful desires and who despise authority.” 2 Peter 2:10

Since God judges lustful desires and rebellion to authority harshly, it makes sense to me that these two areas are dealt with thoroughly so we will not be unaware of the Devil’s evil schemes. Sexual immorality is one of the chief ways the enemy uses to keep us from serving God. Sexual sins seem to be the first thing that takes us out of the fight.

I also think that rebellion is probably the second most effective way the enemy uses to defeat God’s warriors. Rebellion is just not seen as an important issue, we don’t understand spiritual authority very well and we don’t quite get that the spiritual world works like a big legal system.

That is why I wrote the LFL materials. I wanted something practical, blunt and useful to help us in this fight. I did not want to keep dancing around the topics of sexuality because we, as the church, have already lost this battle for our young people’s minds.

I spent a lot of my life as a believer in Jesus, but not dangerous to the enemies of Jesus. My goal today is to start young men and women yearning to be warriors for Jesus — to be truly dangerous men and women.
We, as followers of Jesus really need to learn how to fight in the spiritual realm for spiritual results. We do not need to live in their ignorance of God and his ways when it comes to purity and obedience or impurity and rebellion.
It isn’t not easy … it’s messy … it’s difficult … it’s painful … but it’s an awesome adventure.
Fighting for His Kingdom,
