A man must accept the fact that he is the transformer that adjusts the love current. A problem occurs when love is used or treated like a direct current as opposed to an alternating one. A direct current is like a battery in a flashlight. You push the flashlight on and it provides light as long as the batteries are strong. There is nothing feeding power back into the batteries, so eventually they will become too weak to be effective. The light will slowly dim and eventually go out. Unfortunately, many relationships operate this way. One person is constantly being called upon to provide the love current, while the other partner just basks in the light of their mate's love. The problem is, the batteries can only last so long. The love God describes that a man should have for his wife is not a direct current but an alternating one. An alternating current must have a place of origin, or a power source, a line or connection between the source of power and its destination, a transformer between the two and a return line back to the power source. God obviously is our power source of love. Your mate is the destination of the love. The connecting line is the Holy Spirit and the transformer is the man. When the power leaves the source, it is at a very high voltage. It's too many volts for any one destination or receptacle to handle. The Holy Spirit carries this love power towards the intended destination, but the power must be reduced or adjusted into a form that the destination can handle. This is where the transformer comes in. The job of the transformer is to break down the power into a form that the receptacle or destination can handle. If the power is not distributed properly, the receptacle burns up and becomes useless. If the receptacle doesn't get enough power, it doesn't work at all. Here's the application. As the man loves God with all his heart, God channels love through him to his mate. Remember, husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). It is the job of the husband, or transformer, to put the love into a form that his wife can receive. He must remain prayerful so the Holy Spirit can provide him with the love that he needs to insure that the receptacle has exactly the right amount of love. Whatever adjustments need to be made, the transformer must make them prior to releasing the current to the receptacle. What makes this all work is what happens next. Because your mate is feeling this unconditional never-ending supply of love, being the God-fearing woman that she is, she begins to give God praise for having a man like you in her life. A godly woman loves a godly man. She expresses love for God through her praises to him. As she praises God for you, the love is sent back to the original source, which is God. It's recharged, redistributed and sent back to the transformer. Again, it's put into a form of love that she can receive, her life is blessed and she in turn blesses God. Everybody wins. God is blessed because he receives praise. The man is blessed because he knows he's in the will of God. There is no greater sense of satisfaction, than knowing you’re in the will of God. The woman is blessed by the love she receives and the security she feels from her man's love.

When I say that the love must be put into a form she can receive, this is what I mean. You must discover how your mate understands love. If she understands love verbally, you must transform love into verbal expressions. If she understands love through demonstration, you must

demonstrate love in a manner that is acceptable to her. For example, she might understand love when it is expressed by you doing the dishes or watching the children. You are the transformer. It is your job to transform the love into a current she can receive.

Men, please understand that you are not left out in the cold on this one. Don't forget that you are a seed planter and the woman, by creation, is a life giver. Adam's wife was named Eve, which means the mother of all living. A woman has the ability to give life to anything she receives. She can receive a microscopic sperm seed and in nine months multiply it into a human life. Whatever seeds you give her will be multiplied and given back to you. If you want love, you must sow seeds of love. According to Scripture, every seed produces after its own kind (Genesis 1:12-25). If you want a certain kind of fruit, you must plant that kind of seed. There is no harvest without fruit and there is no fruit without a seed. If you don't like the fruit that you see, you must plant a different kind of seed. A woman will only produce the fruit that corresponds to the seed that is planted in her. If you want kindness, you must plant kindness. No farmer plants corn and harvests wheat.

At the beginning of a relationship, things are usually great. The husband is in love with his wife and feels a strong attraction to her. He loves her kindness, gentleness, sweetness, submissive spirit and affectionate nature. Three to five years later he is complaining that she has changed. He no longer likes what he sees in her. He's right, but he's also wrong. He is right, she has changed because she has ceased to produce the fruit that he enjoys, but he is also wrong. He is wrong because she has not ceased to be a fruit producer. So what is the problem? The problem is, the man has enjoyed harvesting and eating the fruit that she has produced for three years or more. That fruit was from seeds planted by a loving father or grandfather, a caring uncle, a big brother, a pastor, deacon, or close male family friend. The husband has been busy enjoying the harvest and he assumes the fruit of kindness, gentleness and sweetness will be there forever. His wife has become short tempered, impatient, non-caring, inconsiderate, argumentative, fault finding, unaffectionate, disrespectful and inattentive. He doesn't like it and who would? This is the reality. He is reaping what he has sown. He, himself, has been short tempered, impatient, non-caring, inconsiderate, argumentative, fault finding, unaffectionate, disrespectful and inattentive. Unconsciously, without thought or premeditation, she has multiplied the seeds she has received. What he now sees in his wife and doesn't like, is not her, but himself. These are his seeds that he's harvesting. All the good fruit has been eaten and he's left with the bad. It is good to know this can be turned around. God shows us how in the book of Genesis.

In Genesis God shows us how to reverse a bad situation. He was our perfect example. According to Genesis chapter one, in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. In verse two the earth is without form and void. We won't address how the earth became void and without form at this time; that's a discussion for another day. Let's continue this line of thought by reiterating that the world was created by the word of God. In verse two of Genesis chapter one, the Bible says that the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, or the deep. The translation here is that God's Spirit hovered over the waters waiting a command. The command is the word “let.”

Everything that follows the word “let” are the instructions of the command. Take note that he uses the word “let” before each of his creative statements. Let there be light, let the dry land appear, let the firmament be divided and let us make man are just a few examples of God's creative declarations. The word “let” falls into an interesting part of Hebrew grammar. It is what is known as an adversive-continuative. In the English language, we have nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, prepositions and prepositional phrases, etc., but we have no part of grammar with which to categorize the meaning of this word “let” in the context of Genesis chapter one. An adversive-continuative is a word that is spoken with the intent to cause an adverse reaction, or to reverse the present condition. Once the present condition is reversed, the word “let” then suggests that the created thing should continue in the manner that agrees with its original purpose. When God spoke the word “let” into the void, formless, chaotic darkness, his intent was for the situation to reverse, or change from its present course, revert back to its original purpose and continue on that path.

A man made in the image and likeness of God has the power through words to speak into a chaotic dark situation, cause it to reverse its action, revert back to its original purpose and continue in the manner in which God intended. Everything works better when it's used for the purpose for which it was created. A man can look out over his darkness, speak life into his chaos and the areas of his relationship that are void and without form, will become full and accomplished. He must speak what he wants to see, rather than what he sees. Using his words as seeds, he can plant his desired harvest in his mate and she will produce it for him unconsciously and effortlessly. Once again, she is by creation a life giver.

The Bible tells us in the New Testament that the Word of God is seed (Luke 8:11). In verse four of Genesis chapter one, we read that God doesn't get upset about the darkness that he sees, but rather determines what he desires to see. He doesn't look into the dark chaotic world and complain, but he speaks what he wants to see. He doesn't say, boy it's dark out there, but he sows the kind seed that will produce the fruit he wishes to harvest. He declares, “Let there be light.” The Scriptures then tells us that he saw the light and it was good (Genesis 1:4). Notice, God said it before he saw it. The application is that he planted it before he could harvest it by first speaking it. He spoke it first and then saw the manifestation of his words. He never criticized the earth for not having form or for being void. He reshaped the contents of the earth by using words as seeds.
