Getting tired of your annual trip to the beach? Want something new and adventures for once, but don’t have a clue where to look? We all get tired of the same old vacations and exploring God’s creation is a must. Here are some of the best hidden travel gems that I have discovered; and all are definitely a step off the beaten part, but will make a wonderfully memorable trip!

Multi-City Tours
Think that tour groups are still for elementary school kids? Think again. Travel agencies all over the world are catching onto the fact that people want to get their money’s worth in their vacations; and that means seeing as much as possible in a small amount of time. Businesses like Kontiki Tours (www.kontikitours.com) organize complete vacation packages including lodging, multi-city tours, tourism hot spots, food, transportation, the works. This particular company specializes in tours throughout South, Central, and Latin America. Other agencies such as Collette Vacations (www.collettevacations.com) specialize in United States vacations, including trips focusing on one state or city, as well as regional tours covering many states and attractions.

North Carolina
One of the most overlooked hotspots for a great vacation is definitely North Carolina. This state has so much to offer; a beautiful coastline, quaint seaside towns, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore, and a huge concentration of waterfalls are just a few of the attractions you will find there. And don’t forget the city of Cherokee, skiing in Maggie Valley, and kayaking trips along the Ocoee and Nantahala. If you want to explore a state to the fullest, I highly recommend a trip to North Carolina. You won’t be disappointed!

Last Minute Cruises
I am convinced that one of the most overlooked opportunities for an inexpensive trip is the last minute cruise. Companies like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and others offer last minute discounts to fill up their ships. After all, there is no money to be made on empty cabins! Have a free weekend coming up? Go check a few cruise sites for sailings that leave within your timeframe. If you don’t mind screening phone calls, give the company a call and tell them what trip you are interested in, and if the price is too high, tell them you need something cheaper. I call tell you from experience that the agent that you speak with will call you back within 24 hours if they are able to do anything about that price.

New England Road Trip
If you are up for some impulsive traveling, you can’t beat a road trip down the Northeast coast. Get together with a group of friends, and look ahead of time for inexpensive hotels or B & B’s along the way. Fly up to Maine, rent a car, and drive to D.C., of course going at your own pace and stopping to see all the attractions and cities along the way. If you have a week or so of vacation time, this is the perfect way to see any part of the country, at your own pace and on your own budget.

Alaskan Railroad Adventure
Alaska is on of the most amazing states in the U.S., but most of it is undeveloped wilderness. Alaska Railroad (www.akrr.com) offers many options for exploring the state, from 2 to 12 days, and covering one national park up to half of Alaska, their packages offer something for everyone. And the best part â€" once you get on the train, your entire vacation is already planned. You choose your excursions, just like on a cruise, but your lodging, meals, and trips are taken care of. All that is left for you to do is sit back and enjoy the view!

Something a Little Different
Tired of the same old vacation? Try this website for some fresh ideas - http://gorptravel.away.com. GORP offers literally hundreds of options from ranch and hiking trips, to trips catering to cultural enthusiasts or families. And their best feature â€" this site offers trips from companies and locations all over the world. From Machu Picchu in Peru on one of their “Cultural Immersionâ€? tours, kayaking in the Galapagos Islands, to hiking trips in Borneo, if you can imagine it, they offer it. Have an idea but have a budget to go with it? Don’t lose hope! Reasonable prices are a part of the package.
