1. Get her Involved: If you are into fantasy football, get a league together in your family or with your friends that let’s the girls have a team. First off, you need to explain the premise of the game. My wife is always shaking her head when I enter the pre-draft war-room (my den) to develop my strategy. Once she understands the game, she won’t be laughing anymore! Of course they won’t be as harcore as you, but if you can get them rooting for a few players on Sunday, your chances of watching more football skyrocket.
2. Get her the gear. Every girl desires deep down inside to look cute in a football jersey of their favorite team. (Which yes, sometimes is only derived by color) Get some little team shorts and maybe a team bandana for her, and in no time she will be gearing up to rip off her Sunday dress and put a number 34 on her back.
3. You take care of the Sunday Meal. Use the half an hour after church and before the game to get the meal prepared for the family….therefore she will feel appreciated and will more often than not….assist you with your drink during the game!
4. Start her off with exciting finishes! Last year my wife saw the second half of the Texas-USC game with Vince Young’s heroic comeback performance. Seeing that exciting game, fueled a fire in her and had her asking about this season. You will have to rely on luck here, but try to include her in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. Girls live on Drama.
5. Tell them interesting life stories of your favorite players. If they can get into the players lives, history or hardships it will connect them with an otherwise meaningless sport. They love the gossip magazines that talk about all the stars right? They don’t care what song they sing or what their latest movie is, they care about the personal life. Pull on their heartstrings a little bit and turn their favorite soap opera into Monday Night!
6. Promise a piece of the pot. If reasons 1-5 don’t get her, use your last resort. MONEY. She will be rooting for your team to win as long as you promise to split your fantasy pot. Hey, suck it up, it’s a small price to pay for some peace and nachos on Sunday
