“Lust� Proof your Marriage

When I was in College, I wrestled daily with this ugly, attractive, sneaky,

persuasive, familiar beast called lust. It would give me something to look forward to on lonely days, waste my day away, leave me with guilt and make my palms sweat, and mouth water in a sick way that I only thought a woman could do.

It’s fecal remains could be found on video tapes fast forwarded to certain scenes, Men’s magazines (we are not talking Playboy but the real Men’s magazines like Maxim, Stuff etc), on the ad section of the newspaper, and stuck in the cache history of my computer.

But this was just a College phase, right? I am sorry God, but I am trying to keep pure for my wife.

Isn’t it better this than a real woman? God, I am sorry, but this will all quite once I am married right? Lust will be defeated at the alter.

That will be my final stand and then God, we will never have to talk about this again. Because lets be honest, once I am getting some action, for lack of a better term, I won’t notice these things. Once I am pleased and taken care of by my wife, Satan will not be able to tempt me.

Married guys out there you can attest to this, and guys that are not yet married, listen closely.

Lust and temptation will not stop; in fact it will get stronger as the Devil knows that your holy marriage will act as a powerful team against him.

Act now, because what you are facing day in and day out now is only practice for the big game.

Satan is using his practice squad,

and figuring out your weaknesses slowly and consistently. There will not be a better time.

Not next year, not when you are married,

not once you have a girlfriend, not once you have a girl you really adore, not when you have your walk for Jesus on track, not when you disconnect your internet, NOW.

You must practice defending your mind from lust and laugh in the face of temptation.

And here is how, this is your workout:

1) Ask God to remove and protect you against any strongholds that Satan has put on you or that past experiences have opened up wounds for him to work.

2) Throw away anything that tempts you, we are talking videos, mags,
newspaper inserts, wife’s clothing magazines, etc.

3) Filter your internet; tell a friend or your wife to enter the password. There are
many filtering resources out there such as www integrityonline.com or www.cnonline.net.

4) Accountability partners, are a great way to have support with your struggle. The Bible says where two or more are in agreement, there is power. Ask someone you really trust to pray for you and consistently support you and Question you. XXXchurch.com has a program that will send an email to your partner every time you go to a bad site.

5) Stay Active, listen to Christian music, be in the word and close to God. A story of a guy that was addicted to porn lead me to a good conclusion. When asked how he spends his free time, he said he really didn’t have a lot to do and those were the times that he was most tempted. So, keep up on hobby’s or develop your own ministry and then you won’t sit around thinking about it all the time.

There is freedom from the stronghold of Lust but you must understand that it will be like breaking any other addiction cold turkey.

Satan will get sneakier and stronger with his temptations as you break the strongholds. Little things that have never tempted you or turned you on, will begin to, but just press on towards the goal, and tell Satan to get behind you. You need to understand that, achieving this purity and loving your wife as the gift from God that she is, may be your greatest achievement in this lifetime. Don’t wait any longer, with every decision you make, it solidifies the person that you are and will become. Be a kingdom person, and with every choice for purity, the next one will be easier until purity will eventually become part of you, instead of an individual decision and that will be the day that you are a
free man!
