Earlier this month, a federal judge declared that the inclusion of “under God in the Pledge of Allegiance was unconstitutional. According to an Associated Press article, Judge Lawrence Kalrton ruled that it violated a child’s right to be “"free from a coercive requirement to affirm God."

The debate was started by Michael Nedow, an atheist from Sacramento, California who filed the lawsuit on behalf of his daughter. That lawsuit was dismissed by the US Supreme Court, but Nedow later filed another lawsuit, this time representing a group of parents from his daughter’s school. Said parents have remained anonymous. I’m of the opinion that if these parents desire enough attention to have “Under God removed from the Pledge of Allegiance, they should have enough of a spine to come forward.

I find it sad that judges and juries consistently find in favor of the minority in this country; and that people are able to file such frivolous lawsuits in the first place. There are much more pressing issues (which I will decline to name in this article) than over the Pledge of Allegianceâ€"something I, and the majority of my classmates recited for many years, without a hitch.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has been known for making other rulings that mainstream America would consider “out there. In 2003, Front Page Magazine writer Michael Tremoglie named the court the “9th Circus Court; citing an instance when the court negated a then convicted bank robber, because he “never intentionally displayed a gun

I wonder will it end. Will songs such as “God Bless America and Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA eventually be banned from school grounds; due to the mention of God? I find is disheartening that a handful of people change the rules for all.

While the natural reaction would be to express angerâ€"I ask that you pray instead. Pray that Michael Nedow’s heart is softened. Pray that the members of the 9th Circuit Court may gain wisdom in their future rulings. Finally, say a prayer for this country. It needs it.

I totally agree with the above statements. And I agree that we should not get angry but pray for our enemies just as Jesus did even while He was hanging on the Cross.

Way to go MODOR. Way to stand up for what you believe in. God Bless America!
