Our attitude in life dictates our quality of life. No matter who we are, we are going to face turmoil and troubles in life, but how we handle those times will decide whether we learn from the experience or whether we remain bitter after the times have passed and live a life filled with bitterness. With his latest book, George Foreman teaches us how to come through every situation life hands us with a greater appreciation for the day that we have been given.

George Foreman, known for his infectious happiness and radiant smile, offers us a lesson in changing our lives from this moment on by starting each day and approaching each obstacle with a smile on our face in his new book, Going the Extra Smile. He talks about his faith in God and how that faith has lead him to smile more frequently, which in turn has affected his overall quality of life. He knew that he wanted to leave behind more than his legacy in the ring and his wealth to his children, and as he pondered what he could leave, it was revealed to him that he could leave them his smile, reminding them that there is always something to be thankful for in life. He tells stories from his boxing career to illustrate the change that has happened in his life since the day that he found Christ and Christ changed every ounce of his being. Like he wrote, “It’s amazing what you can do when you see and grab hold of the positive.”

Going the Extra Smile is the shot of positively that we all need from time to time. It helps to change our outlook on life and can help to pull a distraught soul out of the mire in which is has sunk. The stories are funny and easy for the reader to identify with and George uses Bible verses to illustrate his principles, showing that this book was birthed not from George Foreman the man, but out of the conviction and leading of the Holy Spirit. He also uses quotes from other authors and celebrities that add to the overall meaning of the book.

We all need a change in our attitudes in life and in our outlook. George Foreman smiles each day and has learned from the first hand experiences of his life. He speaks with enthusiasm and spirit, evidenced by the profound magnetism the book has on those who read it. This book is great for Christians who may have become bogged down from all the struggles that life has offered them. It is a great gift of encouragement for those who need a little dose of encouragement, those who are currently struggling or those who remain sunken because of their previous struggles. Finally, it is a witnessing tool for those who surround us daily with an overload of negativity. Who knows? It could just make them start smiling again.
